17th Century Waite Immigrants
There were ten men of the Waite surname who settled in New England by 1663. Most of you who can trace your Waite ancestors back to New England in the 17th century descend from one of these men.

- Gamaliel, brother of Richard above, b. 1598, of Boston
- Thomas, brother to Richard and Gamaliel above, b. 1601, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island by 1639
- Richard, b. 1608, of Watertown, Massachusetts by 1637
- John of Malden, son of Samuel, b. 1618, of Malden, Massachusetts by 1644
- Thomas, probably the son of Samuel of Malden, of Ipswich, Massachusetts by 1658
- Alexander of Boston by 1637
- George of Providence, Rhode Island by 1646
- John of Windsor, Connecticut by 1649
- Benjamin, son of Thomas of Portsmouth, of Hatfield, Massachusetts by 1663

I am a Wait descendant who hasn’t done much research yet on the family but would like to. I am having trouble finding the stated genealogy of 3 generations from the immigrants listed. I come from Thomas of Portsmouth and Benjamin of Hatfield. Please advise the URL at which I should begin. What a great resource this website is going to be! Thank you so much!

I was just at the cemetery in Whatley MA earlier this month and visited some of the Wait graves, although I couldn’t find the specific one I was seeking, that being Consider.
